The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has recently reached out to RELI Kenya members to support the Institute with the following:
1. Development of popular versions of their materials. 
2. Review of their M&E plan
3. Revision of the teacher professional development framework
4. Revision of the 2016 Needs Assessment
5. Public engagement 
 
It is with this regard that ziziAfrique is inviting RELI members who are interested in supporting the Institute for a meeting at their offices on Friday 18th January 2019 at 9:00am at their offices at Le Mac Suite 1 off, Church Road and behind Toyota Westlands. 
 
The main agenda for the meeting will be to organize ourselves and agree on how best to support the Institute in its endeavour. We are pleased to announce that the Inspirational Teacher, the Enterprising Student and the Head Teacher Awards are now OPEN!
 
 
This email contains all you need to know about each of the 3 awards, including what we are looking for in a winning candidate and how to apply. 
 
Please note: Nominations are only open to schools that have submitted an Annual Report in the School Enterprise Challenge 2018. If you have not yet submitted your Annual Report this year then you are not eligible to apply for the 2018 awards. However, when you submit your Annual Report next year, you'll be eligible for the 2019 awards! 
Calling all Inspirational Teachers 

The Inspirational Teacher Award recognises and celebrates teachers who have used the School Enterprise Challenge to improve education at their school and spread the benefits of the school business beyond their school.
 
 
For this award, we will be looking for the following qualities from teachers:
  1. commitment to teaching enterprise
  2. Going the extra mile to ensure that their students get the most out of participating in the School Enterprise Challenge
  3. A commitment to using enterprise to enhance students' education, including efforts to use enterprise across the curriculum
  4. Demonstrable commitment to spreading the benefits of the School Enterprise Challenge beyond their own school.
The winner will receive a USD $1000 prize, and two further teachers will be awarded runners-up prizes of USD $500! To be eligible for this award in 2018 you must teach at an educational institution that has submitted both the Business Plan and the Annual Report for the 2018 School Enterprise Challenge.
 
If you believe that you could be 2018's Inspirational Teacher, make sure you get your Head Teacher to complete the Inspirational Teacher Nomination form by Thursday 10th January 2019 (we will be unable to accept any nominations received after this date so please submit early).

Calling all Enterprising Students 

If you have a student who has been fantastic throughout the School Enterprise Challenge this year, make sure you nominate them by Thursday 10th January 2019!
 
 
For this award, we will be looking for a student who has excelled in four main areas:
  1. Commitment and perseverance
  2. Adaptability and problem-solving ability
  3. Leadership
  4. Enthusiasm and positive energy
The winner will receive a laptop, and the two runners up will be awarded a cameraeach! To be eligible for this award in 2018 the student must attend an educational institution that has submitted both the Business Plan and the Annual Report for the 2018 School Enterprise Challenge and one of the teachers at their school must complete an Enterprising Student Nomination form.

Calling all Head Teachers 

The Head Teacher Award recognises head teachers that have gone the extra mile to enable and support their school's participation in the School Enterprise Challenge.
 
 
For this award we are looking for a Head Teacher (also known as 'Principal' is some schools) who:
  1. Has played a key in the success of the business being run at their school
  2. Has helped to spread the entrepreneurial spirit beyond their school
The winner of this award will receive a USD $1,000 prize and a trophy. If you believe the Head Teacher (or 'Principal') at your school deserves to win this award, make sure you (teacher leading the School Enterprise Challenge at your school) nominate them by Thursday 10th January 2019To be eligible for this award in 2018 you must be a head teacher at an educational institution that has submitted both the Business Plan and the Annual Report for the 2018 School Enterprise Challenge.

The RELI Kenya thematic group leaders and country coordinators held a meeting on 8th June at Dignitas offices in Westlands, Nairobi. The objective of this meeting was to have each thematic group leader present key learning and reflections over the past year for their respective groups and further fully develop a learning session on “Emerging institutional and country level learning” for the fast approaching regional convening.
